Description

There are several species of cacti that are native to Taiwan, but one of the most well-known is the Taiwan cactus (Epiphyllum oxypetalum).

The Taiwan cactus is a type of epiphytic cactus, which means it grows on other plants rather than in the ground. It has flat, green stems with scalloped edges and produces large, fragrant flowers that bloom at night. The flowers are typically white or pink and can be up to 25 cm in diameter.

The Taiwan cactus is often grown as an ornamental plant and is sometimes referred to as the "Queen of the Night" due to its fragrant nocturnal blooms. It is relatively easy to grow and requires well-draining soil, bright but indirect light, and moderate watering. The plant can be propagated by stem cuttings and can be grown indoors or outdoors in warm climates.

In traditional medicine, various parts of the Taiwan cactus are sometimes used to treat conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and inflammation. However, its medicinal properties have not been extensively studied, and caution should be exercised when using it for medicinal purposes.
